NEW ZEALAND

As we arrived on November 1st, 1996, in the evening in Auckland, we had to cross the hole country in a real hurry, between November 2nd and 6th, that means 5 days only !

You can see in red the route we have taken. Exactly the contrary of the touristic routes. And as the route we have taken was really fantastic and leaves in our minds the best souvenir of all of our Southern Hemisphere Trip... how beautiful must the touristic route be !!!

The touristic route passes in the Eastern part of the Northern Island and in the Western part of the Southern Island.

The yellow points will indicate you

the pictures in the same order

as they will follow

(from the North to the South).

We have not been to Mount Cook,

because we went along the Eastern Coast.

But we could enjoy

the beauty of the mountain chains

to which he is belonging.

The New-Zeland hills
before arriving in New-Plymouth
and before Mount Egmont,
on the Western Coast
of the Northern Island.

Mount TARANAKI also called Mount EGMONT

A volcano who's a little bit lost in the countryside,
because all the others are in the Eastern Part of the 'Smoky Island'
(I'm sorry, I don't know the english name for "Ile Fumante"),
who has many volcanos and hot water sources

A Mount Fuji of the Maoris, in a certain way !!!

Lower Hutt, North of Wellington, the capital.

COOK DETROIT
One of the most dangerous in the World.
We had a very nice sea,
we also could see some wales
not too far from the ferry,
who took us on the "Jade Island".

THE MALBOROUGH SOUNDS
A very dangerous and very long channel :
it took us one hour after the entrance of the channel
to reach the port.
The best white wines from New-Zealand
are coming from that region.

Fist vision in the morning of the countryside
of the Eastern Part of the Jade Island.

Beautiful and unusual orange jennets...
... and sheeps everywhere !!!

The mountains chain where somewhere... very far... should be
the MOUNT COOK.

BLUFF
the most southern point of the anglosaxon world !

 Dog Island 6 km

Ruapuke Island 21 km

Stewart Island (Oban) 35 km

Wellington 784 km

Cape Reinga 1.401 km

Hobart 1.680 km

Sydney 2.000 km

South Pole 4.810 km

Equator 5.133 km

Tokyo 9.567 km

Kumagaya 9.632 km

New York 15.008 km

London 18.958 km

As we had just a few days
and as we took a quite unusual route for a tourist,
we cannot give you here a true image of New-Zeland...
A very good reason for us to return !

But I hope they have given you a certain desire
to go there and discover this unusual country by yourself.
